How Often Should You Detail Your Car in Kansas City?

From sun-baked summers to salty winter roads, KC weather is hard on paint and interiors. Here's the realistic detailing schedule we recommend.

Kansas City and the surrounding metro — Olathe, Overland Park, Lenexa, Lee's Summit — get hit with just about every kind of weather: 100°F summers with relentless UV, hailstorms in spring, salty roads in winter, pollen in fall. All of it takes a toll on your paint and interior.

So how often should you actually detail your car in KC? Here's the schedule we recommend to our Olathe and Overland Park customers based on years of mobile detailing across the metro.

    Maintenance Wash: Every 2 Weeks

A proper hand wash every 2 weeks is the single best thing you can do for your paint. Bird droppings, tree sap, bug splatter, and salt all bond to clear coat over time. Removing them quickly prevents permanent etching.

Our maintenance wash plans (weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly) handle this automatically — set it and forget it.

    Interior Detail: Every 3–6 Months

If you eat in your car, drive kids around, or have pets, plan on a full interior detail every 3 months. Without those factors, every 6 months is plenty.

Interior details deep-clean what regular vacuuming can't reach: extracted carpets, conditioned leather, sanitized hard surfaces, and treated odors.

    Full Detail: Twice a Year

We recommend a full interior + exterior detail twice a year for most KC drivers — once in spring (after winter salt) and once in fall (before winter salt). This keeps the vehicle in top condition year-round.

Paint Correction + Ceramic Coating: Every 3–5 Years

Once you've had a multi-step paint correction and ceramic coating done, you're protected for 3 to 5 years with proper maintenance. After that, the coating can be refreshed with a top-up service or fully redone.

Pairing ceramic coating with bi-weekly maintenance washes is the absolute best way to keep a vehicle looking new in Kansas City.

    Bottom Line

Hand wash every 2 weeks. Interior detail every 3–6 months. Full detail twice a year. Ceramic coating every 3–5 years. That's the formula for keeping any car looking great in Kansas City.
